La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that CEO Ivan Gazidis has a good relationship with Pioli and admires the current tactician but reveals that there is a "gentleman’s agreement between the club and the coach" allowing to free them from or review the former Fiorentina coach’s current contract expiring in 2021.
The agreement is reported to be based on the results obtained during his first months at San Siro and the final decision will depend on what position Milan will have at the end of the campaign.
The newspaper has revealed that the Rossoneri are appreciating Pioli’s work and the performances on the pitch, comparing the two parts of the season, before and after the former Inter coach arrived.
It also suggests that sticking with Pioli would be financially healthier for the club, as his salary will be significantly lower than the potential deal with Red Bull director Rangnick.
Pioli has an average of 1.42 points per match after taking over the Diavolo, after winning seven and drawing six of his 19 League games in charge of the club.
Milan currently sit seventh in the currently suspended Serie A season, three points behind Napoli at sixth.
