Former Inter and Italy Under-21 Coach Claudio Gentile has confirmed he is considering the job of Libya manager.
It was initially reported in magazine Oggi that he had already accepted the position, but clarified the situation this evening.
“They have offered me this chance and I have said yes, but for now there is no formal agreement,” he told news agency ANSA.
“The political situation must first be clarified and Mouammar Ghaddafi must be arrested. When that's all done, hopefully we can play a friendly in Italy.”
Gentile had told magazine Oggi that a deal was in place.
“I accepted the role of Coach of Libya primarily for emotional reasons, as I was born in Tripoli.
“At the age of eight, my family and I were forced to leave and return to Italy.”
He went on to win the 1982 World Cup with the Azzurri.
