Davide Ballardini said Genoa are ‘still under construction’ ahead of the first game against Inter on Saturday. ‘The desire to do well is there’.

Ballardini helped the Rossoblu finish 11th in Serie A after replacing Rolando Maran at the Marassi last December.

Serie A Preview: Inter vs. Genoa

The Grifone were the second team to have changed coach in 2020-21 and Ballardini returned for the fourth time to Enrico Preziosi’s club.

“I expect an Inter like the one we left, strong and clear in what they do during the match,” Ballardini told Genoa’s official website.

“They changed two players, but they changed them with equally good players. Strong, compact and very talented team, the usual Inter.”

Ballardini said he has limited options for the first match of the new season.

“We are not OK yet, but we are certainly serious, motivated and now we want to play a good match against probably the strongest players in the League,” he continued.

“The commitment is there, the desire to do well is there. It’s clear, however, that we are still under construction.”
