Genoa Coach Gian Piero Gasperini is self-critical after the 1-0 win over Lazio, saying his team made 'too many mistakes'.

The Grifone put an end to their negative streak with a convincing performance that saw them take home three points from a difficult away game to sixth-placed Lazio.

Gasperini, speaking to Sky Sport Italia at the end of the game, was happy about the change in the standings.

“It was a great performance and a great result that brings us back a favourable position,” said the Coach.

“The standings involve a lot of teams close together, so it takes little to climb. But we're still in a very good position.

“But we made too many mistakes on the individual chances.

“Do we play with no strikers? You can see it either way, but we still have three players out there.

“What matters is not having a striker, it's being dangerous and having the right movement.

“In the future we need to become more concrete, because we wasted far too much.

“We had many new arrivals in the market, but from the next season we'll be more stable.”

Among Genoa's best players was M'Baye Niang, whom Gasperini praised as the type of player he is counting on.

“We know Niang's characteristics well. We tried getting him in the summer but it wasn't possible, but he's here now.

“He's just in his 20s but we count on him doing well.”
