The 29-year-old moved to the port club at the start of the year after Genoa reportedly paid Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”5″>Fiorentina around €8m for his services.

“He’s not playing in the position that he should be,” continued the toy tycoon. “He’s a penalty area player, but he’s almost playing as a second striker to Rodrigo Palacio.

“Is that a criticism of the Coach? No, it’s one of Palacio,” he joked.

Gilardino has scored just one goal in eight Serie A games for Genoa as they continue to struggle without his strikes.

Yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Fiorentina was their seventh straight League game without a victory, a run of form which has raised doubts over Pasquale Marino.

“The Coach still has 18 months on his contract, but he has to deserve to be reconfirmed by getting results in the next few games,” Preziosi added. “He, like everyone else, is under discussion.”
