Genoa’s squad has been placed into a training retreat by their President Enrico Preziosi, in preparation for the weekend’s game with Torino.

The Grifone are stuck in 19th place in the table, having lost seven of their eight matches played since Luigi Del Neri was brought in as Coach.

Del Neri has received the short-term backing of Preziosi, but the President has taken the steps to place the playing staff into a training retreat in the north of Italy for the remainder of the week, in a bid to turn around their fortunes.

Genoa host Torino this Sunday afternoon, with Il Granata currently three points and three places above them in the table.

“Everyone is in retreat. At the end of training today at the Centro Sportivo Signorini, behind closed doors, the party will travel to Coccaglio, in the province of Brescia, where the team will remain until Saturday before returning to Liguria for the match against Torino,” detailed an official statement released today on Genoa’s official website.

“The decision was taken yesterday and the choice of location was Franciacorta, which has already hosted the Grifone in other circumstances.”
