Italy’s Anti-Mafia Commission is investigating Genoa’s proposed sale as its secretary claims money laundering is rife in football.

Calciomercato.com reports a Press conference was held on Tuesday, where secretary Marco Di Lello confirmed the commission was probing the SRI Group’s on-and-off purchase of Genoa.

He added: “There is a substantial underestimation of the infiltration of crime among fans and curvas.

“There are confirmations of links with crime. We’re trying to stop money laundering, but there are also signs of it taking place in the transfer market.”
