Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has apparently put the brakes on any possibility of Andrea Ranocchia joining Inter during the January transfer window.
It's no secret that Inter would like to sign the Italy international centre-back on a permanent deal after purchasing 50 per cent of his rights in the summer.
Initially, Inter had planned to wait until the end of the season before bringing Ranocchia to the club. However, injury problems in defence have made bringing the deal forward imperative.

Initially, Inter had planned to wait until the end of the season before bringing Ranocchia to the club. However, injury problems in defence have made bringing the deal forward imperative.
A meeting between Preziosi and Inter President Massimo Moratti is said to be imminent, although hope of seeing Ranocchia in the blue and black shirt faded last night.
La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Preziosi is only prepared to let Ranocchia go midway through the season at great expense, naming his price as high as €12m, which is almost double what Inter paid for 50 per cent of his rights in the summer.
When the Derby della Lanterna was snowed off last night, Preziosi also took the opportunity to state that it isn't his intention to sell Ranocchia in January.
Meanwhile Inter remain undeterred and will reportedly make a bid worth €8m to whet Preziosi's appetite.
