Gimnasia La Plata have accepted an offer from Genoa for Venezuelan forward Jan Hurtado, but Boca Juniors are ‘optimistic’.
Gimnasia announced on Tuesday evening a fee had been agreed and that Genoa had permission to negotiate personal terms with the player.
However, Boca sporting director Nicolas Burdisso made it clear his club were still in the running for the 19-year-old.
“Hurtado’s situation has slowed down due to an issue unrelated to the two clubs,” said the former Roma defender.

“Hurtado’s situation has slowed down due to an issue unrelated to the two clubs,” said the former Roma defender.
“It’s an unusual situation because the player owns 50 percent of his economic rights, with the rest belonging to Gimnasia.
“We agreed terms with the player and made Gimnasia an offer, but a third club [Genoa] came in for him.
“[Boca President] Angelici is carrying out the negotiations for Hurtado because of his experience and because there’s no-one better than him to bring them forward. I’m optimistic.”
The Grifone have dived in for the 19-year-old after city rivals Sampdoria failed to meet his asking price.
