The chances of seeing Rodrigo Palacio join Inter have increased after Gian Piero Gasperini took charge at San Siro.

The Argentine was already being linked with a move to the Nerazzurri and Gasperini, who replaced Leonardo as boss on Friday, is unlikely to object to his arrival.

Gasperini coached the South American at Marassi before the tactician was substituted at the helm by Davide Ballardini in the past campaign.

Talks between both clubs are yet to be finalised though after Goran Pandev refused to be involved in the deal.

It was suggested that the two clubs could swap strikers, but Pandev isn't keen on moving to the Stadio Ferraris.

Palacio could now join Inter in a switch that sees Davide Santon, who has just completed a six month loan at Cesena, possibly spending the new campaign with the Rossoblu.

The attacker joined the Marassi outfit in 2009 after four years in Argentina with Boca Juniors.

Palacio, who has also appeared for Huracan and Banfield, is 29 and has won eight caps at full level for his country.
