Gian Piero Gasperini said Mattia Perin will be fined for being caught drink-driving, but not dropped by Genoa.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper was stopped by police while driving along the seafront near Genoa last night and failed an alcohol breath test.

“He was on his way back from a dinner with friends to celebrate his Italy debut,” explained Coach Gasperini.

“The parameters of the alcohol test are, rightly, severe. He will receive a fine, but my respect for him remains unchanged.”

That means Perin will be in goal for Monday night’s Serie A game with Palermo. Click here for a match preview.

“They are a very strong team and I know Paulo Dybala has great quality. We want to win in front of our fans, as they are our 12th man and we’ll give our all for them.”
