Gian Piero Gasperini praised Atalanta for “not changing our attitude” after an early goal in Bologna, fighting back to win 2-1.

The Orobici had gone behind at the Stadio Dall’Ara within three minutes, but second half goals from Gianluca Mancini and Duvan Zapata turned it around.

“Victories do help the confidence to grow, but the fact is now we are converting more of our chances and that’s why we have a better chance of winning,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Our performances were always good, it was just that we weren’t turning those opportunities into goals. We move the ball around well up until we reach the edge of the opposition area, then we run into problems.

“Bologna did well to score with their first chance, but I like that we didn’t change our attitude despite going a goal down. We built this victory from scratch.”

Duvan Zapata came off the bench and scored his first Serie A goal in an Atalanta jersey.

“Strikers need goals for their confidence, although I always expect more from him. Papu Gomez is a player of extraordinary quality and versatility who has now reached full maturity.”

Atalanta’s next match is against Inter, who have won their last seven Serie A matches.

“They are in great form and we would’ve preferred to face them earlier when they were still adjusting, but our confidence has grown lately too.”
