There are five of this weekend’s 10 Serie A fixtures postponed to May 13 due to the Coronavirus outbreak, but bizarrely Atalanta fans are being allowed to travel from Bergamo – one of the most hard-hit areas in Italy – to Lecce for the game.

“It’s a strange week, different from the others. We hope it can all be resolved soon, even if we know it’ll take a while,” the coach told the official Atalanta website.

“The team trained anyway and is ready to play, despite the climate of uncertainty. We will try to get back to normality.”

Berat Djimsiti and Rafael Toloi have not made the trip due to injury, so Marten de Roon could be re-routed into the back three.

“Lecce reinforced their squad in January, they need points to secure safety, so this is going to be a difficult match for us,” continued Gasperini.

“Let’s not forget, they had won three games in a row before the defeat to Roma last week. Every match now could be even more important than the last, because we’re reaching the final stages.

“Obviously, our objective is to win those six-seven games we need to qualify for the Champions League again.”
