Gian Piero Gasperini has no interest in the Italy job “for now,” but praised Antonio Conte for “rehabilitating” the Nazionale.

The Genoa Coach spoke to Tuttomercatoweb at a charity event and was asked about the news Conte will leave after Euro 2016.

“We will all stand with Conte,” said Gasperini. “He has done a splendid job, rehabilitating the Nazionale that had many problems. In Serie A there are too many foreign players, so it’s hard to choose from this pool.

“I hope his experience will be crowned by a great run in the European Championship.”

The race is now on to find a suitable replacement for Conte, so will Gasperini be considered?

“I don’t think so for now. It’s an incredible ambition, an extraordinary achievement, but I really don’t think so.”
