“Results help the maturation process and team spirit to grow. I am here to develop a project, to help young players grow and that is going to take time. The club knows that and asked me to work based on the long-term. I am strongly convinced we’re doing the right thing.

“Tomorrow we face Napoli and perhaps I would’ve preferred a different opponent, because they play the best football in Italy right now. They lost Gonzalo Higuain, but have a confident and consolidated tactical shape, continually evolving positively under Maurizio Sarri.

“We’ll do everything we can to get a result in this game. Facing one of the best sides doesn’t mean you are beaten automatically.”

Atalanta are without Mauricio Pinilla, Leonardo Spinazzola and Abdoulay Konko, while Franck Kessié is suspended.

Atalanta squad for Napoli: Bassi, Berisha, Sportiello; Caldara, Conti, Dramè, Masiello, Toloi, Zukanovic; Cabezas, Carmona, Freuler, Gagliardini, Grassi, Kurtic, Migliaccio, Raimondi; D'Alessandro, Gomez, Paloschi, Pesic, Petagna
