Gian Piero Gasperini considers the 1-1 draw at Crotone “a good point in the circumstances” after Atalanta struggled with the conditions.

It had been raining for two days in Calabria and that left the pitch waterlogged, while strong winds also affected the flight of the ball.

“Rolando Mandragora’s goal could’ve cost us the game and we did well to get it back on an even keel,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The conditions were really difficult and it was frankly unusual for a Serie A match. We hoped to play a more normal encounter here, but the state of the pitch really affected our passing game. It’s a good point in the circumstances.”

Are the pressures of playing in Serie A, the Europa League and Coppa Italia getting to Atalanta?

“It has caused a few issues, but we are excited to play against Borussia Dortmund and hope to make a good impression, even if the odds are not in our favour. We hope to have Mattia Caldara and Papu Gomez back for the Europa League.”
