The Grifone were beaten 2-1 in Sicily, putting another large dent in their Europa League ambitions.

“We did very well after the break, but gave Palermo too much room in the opening 45 minutes,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s a game we also gave away in part, being rather wasteful in the final pass or the finish. Considering the way the match developed overall, it’s a pity.

“We continue along our path and try to reach the highest point we can.”

Gasperini was asked whether he will be on the Genoa bench next season and beyond.

“We have never discussed my future. I don’t think this is the right time. There are many rumours at the moment, but we are concentrated on finishing this campaign.

“Whether I stay isn’t only up to me. We need all the parties to be satisfied. We’ll think about this after the season is ended.”
