The Blucerchiati are back in Serie A at the first time of asking and under new Coach Ciro Ferrara are currently planning out the first stage in a three-year project.

Reiterating his commitment to seeing this rebuilding through, the Vice-President reflected that it will not come without certain demands being placed on the team from the word go.

“I remember on the evening of the [Serie B second leg play-off] game with Varese that I said I can only guarantee commitment, desire to do well and great seriousness and so I keep saying,” he told the club’s official website today.

“This is the spirit that all members of the club have – with dedication and professionalism in what we do we are convinced that the rewards will come.

“First though, we need points, then I’d like to see lot of running and an enjoyable game. For fans to love the team is important, but points are also important.

“The transfer market? We believe that a couple of players are needed to improve the squad. Certainly we will not buy a large number, we will work more accurately.

“The Coach will make his assessments, but I think that the group is still valid, we trust them and are calm.”

The club welcomed Maxi Lopez to Marassi this week.

“This is an important investment, a fundamental option for our attack, both for what he has already demonstrated and for what he can still deliver.

“Maxi knows he has come to work in an organised club and he has enthusiasm that all the conditions are in place for him to do well.

“Cassano? I will repeat this – we do not want to steal anyone else’s players. In the future we shall see, but now is not the right time.”
