Rudi Garcia has revealed the reasons why he decided to pen a book after just one season in Italy.

The French tactician joined the Giallorossi last summer from Lille, and has since guided the club to second in the table and a place in next term’s Champions League.

And the Coach has conceded to students at LUISS University in the capital why he wanted to share his experience with the public.

“The idea of writing the book came from a friend,” he admitted at the launch to Tutte le Strade Portano a Roma.

“I don’t really like to talk about my private life and thoughts, but to him it was easy.”

Garcia then commented on the reasons why he became a Coach and why he chose Roma.

“In France, after World Cup 1998, a lot of Coaches came to the fore. It wasn’t easy, because so many people wanted to become a Coach after that, but I am a fighter.

“I think, to be successful, you should never be satisfied. You always have to think about the next season and want to improve.

“When I got here I understood that the fans were disappointed, and I wanted to give them an identity to cling to.

“But then it was also important to give the players some confidence – a player without confidence can’t give his best.

“Look at Pjanic’s goal [against Milan] – that only comes from a confident player.

“We’re unique at Roma. I want this to be one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It’s important that everyone, from the President to the janitor believes that.

“I wouldn’t change anything. It’s been an immense pleasure to come here. I’m just sorry we’re not fighting for the title on the penultimate weekend.”

The former Lille man then remarked on last weekend’s shock loss to Catania.

“Luckily I haven’t experience that a lot this season. But I was so angry after Catania. These things can happen, but I hope they don’t happen again!”
