Adriano Galliani has refocused Milan’s transfer talk, welcomed the idea of Silvio Berlusconi's return and praised Rino Gattuso’s recovery.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia on Monday evening, the Milan Vice-President covered a number of topics. He looked to backtrack on reports seemingly confirming an agreement between the club and Catania for Maxi Lopez, but instead opened up interest in Didier Drogba.
“Who will reinforce the attack? It is being said that someone will arrive in January, but Santa Claus is still far away…we will assess Cassano’s condition as we have guaranteed him a starting role when fit.
“If he returns then we will not go into the market. We will evaluate what to do a little later. Maybe we’ll just get one for the primavera side. [Nicolas] Anelka? If he continues to score, we’ll see. He is an important player, but I was in love with Drogba when he played at Marseille.”
Meanwhile, Galliani also confirmed that Berlusconi is likely to return to an official capacity as club President in the near future after resigning as Italian Prime Minister on Sunday.
“Frankly, I never realised that he had stopped. A football team is not a company, it is something that concerns the all different feelings. Berlusconi was President and will return to being President, but to me he has never stopped, he has always been close.
“I hope that he will formally decide to take back the Presidency of Milan. The trophies Milan have won have always been with Berlusconi as President, since we are in the race for the Champions League we hope he comes back.
“His passion has always been the same, both as President and not.”
Whilst looking to dispel controversy on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s autobiography and downplaying certainty over the Rossoneri’s bid to win a second successive Scudetto, Galliani also gave his view on Gattuso’s return to playing football after a problematic eye condition.
“Gattuso is feeling better. He is constantly changing his glasses, so that means that he is improving. I was told he can fully recover any time between two and six months.”
