Under new disciplinary guidelines in the Italian game, authorities can close sections of stadiums or whole arenas for not just racial taunts, but territorial discrimination too.
“I understand that racism is a big problem, a worldwide one,” Galliani noted. “However, territorial discrimination is something different.
“The rule on that needs to be abolished. All of the Presidents are in agreement with that and I’ve already called Italian Football Federation chief Giancarlo Abete to tell him that.”
Milan have confirmed that they will appeal the sentence in a bid to get the stadium re-opened for the Week 8 clash.
“The chants were not even heard,” he added. “No newspapers or television stations heard it, probably because there was nothing there.
“I was at the Juventus Stadium and I just heard a lot of chants about Mario Balotelli and nothing else.
“The next time it happens the game will be awarded to the opposition and they’ll want a points penalty too.
“If 50 people get together then they can kill a club with racial or territorial discrimination chants.
“I don’t understand why this rule is only in Italy. And it makes no sense to close a stadium when they are already empty, fantastic…”
