The Togo international arrived over the summer, but confessed he had already started taking Italian lessons before making the move to Serie A.

“Here it’s like being in a family and the concept of family is very strong,” he told the official club website.

“My teammates help me to understand things quickly and make me feel very much at home. The city of Genoa reminds me of Monaco, as it’s a long stretch with mountains near the sea.

“Playing in a stadium like Marassi also really fires you up. I love venues where you are in contact with the crowd.”

On Sunday, Genoa face high-flying Sassuolo, who are sitting pretty in fifth place.

“It is a difficult match against Eusebio Di Francesco’s side. This is an important phase of the season and picking up points is the objective so we can view the future with more confidence.”
