Matteo Gabbia is expected to leave the United States soon to complete his move to Villarreal, with Samuel Chukwueze heading the other way to Milan, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The 23-year-old Italian defender struggled for consistent playing time under Stefano Pioli last season, seeing just 895 minutes of action in 17 appearances across all competitions.

Milan have been incredibly active in the summer transfer market, picking up six players so far, and they’ve not shown any signs of slowing down just yet.

As detailed by Di Marzio, Milan have agreed to send Gabbia to Villarreal on a season-long loan deal without a permanence clause, something the Spanish side were pushing for in order to give the green light to the Chukwueze deal.

The total agreement between all parties is expected on Monday July 24, allowing both players to complete their moves next week.

Milan will then look to make a move for Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah, but first they want to complete some outgoing transfers.
