Tributes to Gianluca Vialli have been flooding in from former clubs, teammates and supporters this Sunday on what would have been his 59th birthday.

The former Cremonese, Sampdoria, Juventus and Chelsea striker died in January following a second bout of pancreatic cancer.

All four of his former clubs posted commemorative messages on twitter on Sunday, with Juve posting a compilation video of Vialli’s best strikes for the Bianconeri.

Sampdoria, meanwhile wrote “Best wishes up there, Luca,” Cremonese tweeted: “Wherever you are, Luca, happy birthday,” whilst Chelsea posted the message: “Remembering the late Gianluca Vialli, who would have been 59 today. A Chelsea legend, never forgotten.”

Before his passing, Vialli had also served as assistant to CT Roberto Mancini with the Italy national team, helping the team on their way to winning the Euros in 2021.

Mancini also shared a photograph to his Instagram story of Vialli holding the European Championship trophy, with the words: “Happy birthday bomber.”

The official Serie A accounts also took the opportunity to remember Vialli by sharing the message: “On what would have been his 59th birthday, we can’t help but miss the truly magnificent person Gianluca Vialli was, amongst everything else he represented.”
