Roma midfielder Alessandro Florenzi claims he is feeling “fine” after sustaining knee ligament damage but admits “we’re not counting the days”.

Florenzi was stretchered off during Roma’s 3-1 win against Sassuolo on October 27, resulting in ACL damage to the 25-year-old’s left knee and leaving him with a challenge to play again this season.

“There’ll be so much excitement playing at Roma’s new stadium. I hope that the institutions see everything through,” he said at a presentation for the Giallorossi’s new stadium.

“My injury? I’m fine, we’re following a program and it’ll take as long it takes, we’re not counting the days.

“Am I aiming to play at the new stadium as captain? I don’t know, Totti has a small chance.

“Perhaps De Rossi could succeed him, it’d be a beautiful thing for him and Roma. We’re thinking of the stadium being built first, then we’ll see.

“The fans? Having them near you changes the scenario of a game alone. I’ve felt it at other stadiums.

“I also think that they can bring you more points. Moreover, they give you that extra edge.

“When they’re near you, they push you to the maximum and give you an extra yard, plus your opponents have even more fear.”
