Juventus boss Antonio Conte and Inter tactician Walter Mazzarri have downplayed the importance of the new Serie A fixtures.

The 2013-14 League calendar was drawn up last night and it provided a challenging start for the Italian champions.

Juve will open their title defence at Sampdoria” data-scaytid=”7″>Sampdoria, before entertaining Lazio” data-scaytid=”8″>Lazio and then travelling to Inter in their first three games.

“In a competition like Serie A, where every team is extremely tactically prepared, commenting on the fixture list has little meaning,” Conte told Juventus.com.

“When you cross the white line you mustn't look at the name of the opposition, because you can run into difficulties against any side if you don’t face them with both respect and thorough preparation.”

Mazzarri, who replaced Andrea Stramaccioni with the Nerazzurri after leaving Napoli last month, was also struggling to respond to questions after the draw.

“It's always hard to say something new about the fixture list,” the former Livorno and Sampdoria tactician commented.

“We play Genoa at home, then Catania away and then we meet Juventus. Every match is important. We all know that you need to play everyone sooner or later.”
