Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini sees “five or six teams that have strengthened and will be battling for the top places”.

The Nerazzurri finished seventh in Serie A last season, missing out on Europe altogether.

With the arrival of new Coach Luciano Spalletti, the minimum aim this term is a Champions League spot, but the Italian international sees plenty of rivals.

“It is a vital season for us,” Gagliardini confirmed.

“It is a vital season for us,” Gagliardini confirmed.

“We are coming into it with a need to improve upon last year. We must try to achieve our objectives and I hope to contribute towards this club’s success.

“I think that there are five or six teams that have strengthened and will be battling for the top places.

“Our league is very difficult and competitive, but this is great to see and I think it’ll be a lot tougher than last year.

“Competition is the best thing to help you focus, while training with good teammates also helps motivate you further.”
