Fiorentina have confirmed that Amauri is now just two steps away from completing his move from Juventus.

The Brazilian-born Italian international is expected to join the Viola on a short-term basis before he becomes a free agent in the summer.

“There is an agreement between Fiorentina and Juventus,” Viola sporting director Pantaleo Corvino noted.

“All that is missing is his medical and then his signature on the contract.

“We’ve not been able to do that just yet because the player has to stay close to his family for personal reasons.”

Amauri, whose wife is expected to soon give birth to a child, hasn’t played for Juve so far this season.

His contract in Turin was set to expire in June and he’s wanted by the Viola after they sold Alberto Gilardino to Genoa and Santiago Silva to Boca Juniors this month.

The Tuscan giants have struggled badly this season and Corvino has warned fans that things might not get better until 2012-13.

“It is hard to find players this January who could improve this squad,” the former Lecce official continued.

“It’s my objective to make this team better, but I know that will be tough. We just have to end the season well and focus on a summer transfer campaign that will re-launch Fiorentina.

“We are currently in a stage of going from one cycle to another.”
