However, the New York Times claimed before kick-off that American billionaire Rocco Commisso has agreed a €135m deal to buy the Viola.

“Fiorentina announce that tomorrow morning, they will arrange an urgent meeting between board members,” read a club statement.

One of Commisso’s right-hand men were also alleged to have been present at the Artemio Franchi.
