A run of seven games without a win has left Pioli’s position under threat, but a statement on Fiorentina’s official website confirmed President Andrea Della Valle had ‘reaffirmed his faith’ in the former Lazio and Inter boss.

“The President Andrea Della Valle attended the David Astori training complex at the start of the day,” read a statement.

“The visit was an opportunity to greet the team and attend training. During the morning, Andrea Della Valle wanted to gather the technical staff and team for a long meeting, reaffirming the faith placed in the project undertaken at the start of the season, as well as the people involved in it, starting with Coach Stefano Pioli.

“The President can’t follow the team away at Sassuolo on Sunday because he was leaving to go abroad, but he has asked for maximum focus and determination from everyone in view of this important commitment.”
