Fiorentina will not be dipping into the market for a new goalkeeper in light of Emiliano Viviano’s injury.

The 26-year-old was feared to have picked up another serious knee injury earlier this week when he collapsed during the Viola’s friendly defeat to Galatasaray.

However, tests confirmed only a thigh strain, ruling the former Inter man out of action for two weeks and potentially then the start of the season.

However, tests confirmed only a thigh strain, ruling the former Inter man out of action for two weeks and potentially then the start of the season.

The Gazzetta dello Sport report that the club will not be dipping into the market for any extra cover as a precaution, with sporting director Daniele Prade understood to be happy to rely on current deputies Neto and Cristiano Lupatelli.

Fiorentina have been highly active in this summer’s transfer market, with Viviano one of a dozen new arrivals so far.
