Fiorentina are reportedly on the verge of signing RB Leipzig midfielder Diego Demme for approximately €10m.

The Tuscans decided to go all-in on Demme after Radja Nainggolan chose to join his old club Cagliari and Daniele De Rossi opted for Boca Juniors.

According to the latest reports from the Corriere dello Sport and others, a deal is imminent and he could have his medical over the weekend.

The 27-year-old was born and raised in Germany, but has an Italian father, and was named Diego in tribute to then-Napoli hero Maradona.

According to Violanews, Demme even spent his summer vacation in Tuscany and is eager to make the transfer to Florence.

The cost of the operation is uncertain, with some suggestions it could be as low as €8m plus performance-related bonuses.

That would seem odd, considering La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed only yesterday that RB Leipzig wanted €16m.

Demme is under contract with the Bundesliga side until June 2021, but there could be some show of recognition if he requests the transfer.

He has been with RB Leipzig since January 2014 and helped them earn multiple promotions from the third tier to Champions League football in just four seasons.

Last term, he provided three assists in 39 competitive appearances for the German club.
