Vicente Guaita’s agent has confirmed that Fiorentina are in talks to sign the Getafe goalkeeper.

Guaita is likely to leave Getafe on a free transfer this summer, with his contract set to expire to June 30, and Javier Ruiz admits Fiorentina would be a ‘great destination’ for the 31-year-old.

“Fiorentina are interested in Guaita, I’ve talked to [sporting director] Corvino in the past,” he told Lady Radio.

“Fiorentina are interested in Guaita, I’ve talked to [sporting director] Corvino in the past,” he told Lady Radio.

“The situation is currently on standby, but we’re negotiating. Fiorentina are a great team and I like them as a destination for Vicente.”

The Spaniard made over 100 appearances for Valencia before joining Los Azulones in 2014, keeping 12 clean sheets last season as the side finished eighth in their first season back in La Liga.

The Viola need a new No 1 after returning Marco Sportiello to Atalanta, while reports suggest Crystal Palace’s pre-contract for Guaita is not valid.
