According to reports from South America, Fiorentina have enquired about the possibility of signing 21-year-old Boca Juniors midfielder Cristian Medina, but have been warned that it will not be cheap to take him away from the Bombonera.

Fiorentina have been monitoring the young Argentine for a while now, and have reportedly thought about making a move at some point this summer.

In fact, there had been rumours linking Medina with a move to Tuscany as early as the January transfer window.

At the time, it was reported that it would cost Fiorentina around €6m to bring the highly-rated youngster to the Stadio Artemio Franchi, however, that figure is now significantly higher.

Medina has a release clause written into his contract which stands at roughly €15m, and club vice-President Juan Roman Riquelme has insisted that he will only leave if the value of the release clause is matched.

With the Copa Libertadores knockout rounds well underway, Boca Juniors are unwilling to let such an important player go in the middle of such an important competition.
