Fiorentina have denied that they are close to signing Radja Nainggolan but confirmed Pol Lirola’s arrival and reiterated Federico Chiesa is staying.

Rocco Commisso’s right-hand man Joe Barone gave an interview to TGR Rai Toscana on Wednesday evening, where he praised Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade for bringing in Lirola and Kevin-Prince Boateng from Sassuolo.

“I’ve seen a fired-up Boateng,” said Barone.

“Prade did a great job. Lirola’s made over 100 appearances in Serie A. He’s a wide player we need and he’s very fired up too. I’m happy with these two new signings.”

However, the Italo-American was quick to play down reports linking the Viola with Inter midfielder Nainggolan, while once more asserting Chiesa was going nowhere.

“People are talking about it, but none of it’s true. He’s a very good and important player, but he belongs to Inter and not us.

“Prade, Montella and I are happy with those we already have in the squad. After that, you have to assess what the market conjures up every day.

“As for Chiesa, I’ve said it many times. It’s useless to keep answering the same question. He has a contract with Fiorentina and is our player, he’s happy and training with us.

“There’s no problem. Fiorentina are made up of many important players.”

Despite Barone’s denial that a deal for the Belgian was close, TGR Rai Toscana stresses it was to be expected and negotiations are under way.
