Sofyan Amrabat made his comeback for Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia against Torino and suffered a fractured nose in the process.

The midfielder had originally been left out of the squad after pushing for a deadline day move to Barcelona, but apologised to the coach and team for his behaviour and was brought along on the bench.

He came on as a substitute during last night’s 2-1 win and bravely threw himself in the way of Antonio Sanabria’s shot, getting accidentally kicked in the face.

The Morocco international continued playing for the rest of the match and has now been diagnosed with a fractured nose.

Amrabat will therefore work separately from his teammates in training for the next couple of days while a protective mask is built for him.

The New York Times reported today that it was not just Barcelona pushing to get Amrabat on deadline day, but Chelsea also made a similar proposal, on loan with option to buy.

They were rejected out of hand by Fiorentina.
