Whilst it leaves Vincenzo Montella’s side with an increased gap to recover to the third and final Champions League qualification position, one of the team’s midfielders isn’t giving up.
“Conceding that goal made everything more complicated,” began Aquilani in surmising yesterday’s result.
“We played a bad game, this was not up to the usual Fiorentina.
“There can, however, be a decline. A decline in which we have paid for with defeat against Lazio in a game that started badly and ended worse.
“Are we out of the race for third place? There are seven points to Napoli and they are recoverable, we train and we look forward.”
