Inter director Luis Figo has dismissed speculation that he could be on the verge of a ‘transfer’ to Real Madrid.

Whispers have suggested that the former Portuguese international has been requested in the Spanish capital by Jose Mourinho.

However, the ex-Inter and Real Madrid star says he has no intention of leaving his current role with the Beneamata.

“The Real Madrid stories are just rumours on the television and in the newspapers,” Figo told Al Jazeera. “I can guarantee that I have never taken into consideration the option of leaving Inter for Madrid.”

Figo, a winner of 127 international caps, retired at the end of his Inter contract in 2009 at the age of 36.
