FIGC President Giancarlo Abete is “open” to Cesare Prandelli's suggestion of an Italy Under-21 side competing in Serie B.
The Azzurri boss made shockwaves when he said young players should be given the opportunity to feature regularly by creating a ‘club' side in the Second Division.
“Prandelli's idea is interesting,” said Federation chief and UEFA vice-President Abete.
“We will evaluate the consensus and practicality issues, but it is certainly a project that we are open to.

“Prandelli's plan is an idea, a proposal and a way of provoking debate. With this I want to say that it is complex and a significant change, but also a great innovation.
“We must avoid slamming the door shut from the outset. We'll evaluate the proposal in the FIGC to see if it can be put into action.
“In any case, that idea opened up a path and made it clear the youngsters need to play more regularly.”
