In addition, World Cup-winner Marcello Lippi is expected to be technical director, working alongside the new CT.

“The Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio is involved in the definition of a new technical and organisational structure of the Italian national teams, as confirmed by President Carlo Tavecchio yesterday,” the FIGC announced in a statement on its official website.
“It takes some time to successfully implement this. In this context, it has already been announced that a technical director will be identified who will co-ordinate all of the mens’ national teams.
“In reference to the Commissario Tecnico, the President of the FIGC, alongside his closest collaborators, is conducting an in-depth evaluation, which will be completed prior to the start of the European Championships.
“In relation to fanciful media reports which appeared today, the FIGC wants to clarify that it has not exercised ‘pressure’ of any kind on the choice of the future Commissario Tecnico of the Italian national team.”
