Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero admits “I changed too much in January this season”.

The Blucerchiati got rid of Eder, Ervin Zukanovic and Vasco Regini in the winter transfer window, and appeared to be sliding toward relegation.

Having reached the 40 point mark, Vincenzo Montella’s side appear to be safe now, but the patron admits he made mistakes.

“A campaign where we’ve suffered like this won’t be repeated ever again,” Ferrero told Sampdoria’s official website.

“We’ll share next year with Coach Montella and we can take satisfaction. Now, however, we have to keep fighting without thinking about excuses because the season isn’t over yet.

“I’d like to be able to bring home three more points from Palermo and climb a bit higher in the table.

“I have clear ideas, in January I changed too much and I was wrong to do that. I understand that revolutions can be harmful, it’s better to think more and just make targeted tweaks.

“For that reason we’ll make the necessary adjustments which Montella will tell us to.”
