Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero is pressing charges after receiving bullets and threatening letters in the post.

The club patron has repeatedly been urged to sell by ultras, especially after negotiations with an American group led by former striker Gianluca Vialli failed.

According to news agency ANSA, Ferrero received bullets, notes threatening his life as well as banners placed around his home promising to ‘visit’ him.

Ferrero had also been spotted in two restaurants in Genoa and penned in by angry fans, who gathered to shout abuse at him.

The 69-year-old had to be smuggled out the back door to escape their wrath.
