Sampdoria and Vincenzo Montella have agreed to continue together next season, announced Massimo Ferrero.

The Coach and club took time to consider the situation after a dismal end to the campaign, which saw Montella pick up an average of under one point per game under his tenure.

Montella had dinner with President Ferrero and mutually agreed to continue their rapport into next term.

"Montella will stay with Sampdoria," announced Ferrero on Sky Sport Italia. "We have to cancel out this nightmare season.

L’Aeroplanino’s position became very tense after the 3-0 Derby della Lanterna defeat to Sampdoria.

He exchanged public barbs with director of sport Carlo Osti, but he too is set to remain in charge.

Montella took over from sacked Coach Walter Zenga on November 15, 2015.
