Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero's three-month ban for racist comments against Erick Thohir has been removed, while his €10,000 fine remains.

The Blucerchiati boss was initially handed a three-month ban, a €10,000 personal fine and a €35,000 fine for his club, for comments made in reference to Inter's Indonesian President.

The President appealed against that decision, though, and today saw his ban lifted by the Italian Football Federation, and his club fine reduced to €20,000.

On an official note on the Sampdoria site, Ferrero thanked all the authorities involved.

“The President Massimo Ferrero and all of U.C. Sampdoria would like to thank the representatives of the Federal Court of Appeal who partially granted our appeal against the President's ban and the club sanction, turning them into a fine of €10,000 for Massimo Ferrero himself and €20,000 for the club.

“A sincere thanks to the lawyer Gian Michele Gentile, who followed the legal proceedings. Massimo Ferrero would also like to extend his personal thanks to all the representatives of the FIGC who guarantee, day by day, fair play and the respect of rules in football.”

The boss of Il Doria followed up his formal statements with a post on Twitter.

“As soon as I came back to Italy I was repaid for my hard work,” reads his social media profile. “This is proof that 'God' exists. The Federal Court of Appeal absolved me.”
