There have been rumours circulating in recent weeks that the charismatic Blucerchiati owner is looking to sell up after a disappointing campaign.

“I’m investing in, not selling, Samp,” Ferrero told Il Secolo XIX.

“And I’ll tell you something else: I’m also investing in Montella, he’ll be our next Coach and he’ll make us rise up higher next year.

“We’ve just been to see the locations for our training camp, we’re planning for pre-season and it would seem inconceivable to me not to continue with him as he’s one of the best around.

“He says we need to see each other and talk together to plan next season that will be the third for yours truly and, as I’ve said since I arrived in Genoa almost two years ago, within three years we’ll win something.

“We’ll plan the future of the team with Montella soon, he wants players who are suited to his style of football, we’ll talk about this and try to find solutions.

“I can’t tell you how many signings he wants. He wants at least  a few important players, I think he has clear ideas about everything he does, we’ll try to make him happy.

“Cassano? He has another year on his contract, why shouldn’t he stay? I would stay, he’s champing at the bit but that’s his nature, it’s nice.”
