Ciro Ferrara is impressed with the passion shown by his Azzurrini players ahead of Thursday's match with Sweden.

“I see the lads are very fired up and happy to be a part of the Nazionale,” said the Under-21 Italy Coach.

“There is a real sense of harmony and a feeling they belong to the Azzurri jersey, so that is crucial. We're working well and it's the first time we've been able to train together for a longer period, so we can approach different issues.”

On Thursday the Azzurrini take on Sweden in a friendly, then face Germany on Tuesday.

“We are slowly constructing the group that we'll then try to take towards the 2013 European Under-21 Championship,” continued Ferrara.

“Even if in these friendly games there are big changes, I do already have the first XI in my head.

“We've got two very difficult matches against sides who will not be in the European Championship this summer, so will also be in the process of renewal.”

Alberto Paloschi is finally back to full fitness after months of injury worries at Parma and now Genoa.

“He is an important figure for this squad, both for his quality and the experience he has accumulated. Having said that, I'm not interested in having a star player, but rather that the whole team shines.”
