“We knew it was going to be tough, but could've even won if we had taken the chances we created.

“Now we go home with a performance that boosts morale, as we showed great character even when 2-0 down.

“It is true that we made mistakes in defence and conceded two avoidable goals, but Germany are a very good team and we can continue to work on what we learned here.”

The Azzurrini beat Sweden 3-1 in another international friendly last week.
