The Vesuviani have emerged this week as potentially interested in signing the Belgium international, to end a difficult spell for him at Old Trafford.

However, speculation is that whilst the club have proposed an initial loan deal with a purchase option included, United are asking for a cash sale.

The Gazzetta dello Sport lead today with this remaining the respective positions of the two clubs, but they run with a new, lower valuation for the 26-year-old.

The pink paper believes that the Red Devils are prepared to accept offers of around €16m for Fellaini’s sale, representing a €3m drop on previously believed valuations and a 50 per cent drop on what United paid for him 12 months ago.

However, Napoli are seen by both the Gazzetta and Il Mattino as reluctant to move from their loan offer and are subsequently working towards other options in the transfer market.
