Massimiliano Farris is proud of Lazio after their 1-0 win over Hellas Verona, thanks to a ‘fantastic’ Sergej Milinkovic-Savic goal.

A late goal from the Serbian midfielder helped the Biancocelesti to claim the three points and keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive.

“You don’t win this game with a single episode, the team played well and with our hearts. I am proud to be here to guide this team, we believed we could make it until the end, and we never gave up,” Farris told DAZN.

“Milinkovic scored a fantastic goal. We need his physical strength to win duels, and his presence inside the box is crucial. He scored one of his classic goals.

“[Ciro] Immobile is unlucky lately. He’s done so much for Lazio, and everyone in the dressing room loves him.

“Today’s performance was great. He hit the post too. We miss his goals, but we are sure he will help us in the final part of the season.”

Felipe Caicedo had a goal disallowed after a VAR check.

“He lashed out an arm, but his shirt was being tugged too. The referee favoured a laissez-faire approach, and he could have given the goal, but the VAR referee called him.”

Farris replaced Simone Inzaghi, who had tested positive for COVID earlier this week.

“The Mister made his presence felt during the week. It’s important that he and his family feel well.”
