Alessandro Gamberini is determined to turn around Fiorentina’s poor start to the season and admits that fans are correct to criticise his teammates.

La Viola currently sit in 14th place in the League table, eight points adrift of Europa League qualification spots and more worryingly just six points above the relegation zone. It is also now 37 months since the team managed more than two consecutive wins in the League.

Ahead of Week 17’s clash away to Novara and as the team look to improve a run of just one win from seven Serie A matches, Gamberini conceded that he understands the fans' frustration at this time.

“The commitment has always been there but the fans are right in saying that we have not performed to our maximum. We are worth much more than our current League ranking and we will do anything to prove it.

“There can be no excuses,” continued the club captain to ANSA. “We must examine our mindset and start from the position of a provincial team, with humility.”

The club have struggled to score goals in recent months, averaging less than a goal a game in the League this term and have now sold Alberto Gilardino to Genoa.

“We are all sorry for Alberto’s departure, but Fiorentina must move forward and succeed.

Udinese” data-scaytid=”16″>“Udinese is a club that confirms that we can do well even after significant sales and against mountain-sized salaries elsewhere.

“I have confidence in us, in [owners Andrea and Diego] Della Valle and in the future of this club, so much so that I confirm what has been said in the past – I want to spend the rest of my career here.”
